Bio

Blue Red Roses, hail from the rural, midwestern hills of Otter Tail County. Filled with lakes, woodlands, and back gravel roads, this is where Blue Red Roses gained their gigging chops and musical inspiration. You’ll find them tirelessly playing local breweries, wineries, cideries and pubs — racking up over 100 shows in 2022 across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana.

It’s playing in these rural settings that inspired Blue Red Roses to head to Nashville and track the sounds of their experiences with the prolific Tim Carrol and Dave Coleman. From this session came their latest 5 song EP, “Inner Light.”

Songwriting and Life partners Mary and Dan Olson craft the melody laden, hooky songs Blue Red Roses is known for. The group has a classic, midwestern summer sound featuring tight, up-front vocal harmonies and stripped down, groovy instrumentation. They bring a warm, upbeat, and mellow vibe, nodding to the sounds of the late 60s and early 70s. The audience can kick back as Blue Red Roses takes them on a nostalgic trip into the sunset, all while leaving the stage electric and the dance floor well used.

Mary and Dan both come from live rock and roll backgrounds along with years of musical theater and classical training. During a Blue Red Roses set, one can expect a great mix of groovy original compositions along with a few beloved hits (and a few deep cuts) from the 60s and 70s.

Blue Red Roses has continuous airplay of their original music on Radio Free Fargo and Ken's FM.  They’ve landed spots at wineries, breweries, restaurants, and festivals spanning across Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana and Washington — with their band opening for The Brevet at First Avenue 7th Street Entry.
